February 2024 Services

February 4th, 10:45 a.m.  – Share Your Poetry, Led by Jody Walker

Poetry like music often expresses emotions that are difficult to express in words. Bring a poem to share in the service or just listen and enjoy.

February 11th, 10:45 a.m. – Rev. Paul Britner: “Pearl of Great Price”

Jesus defined the Kingdom of Heaven as a merchant who sold everything he had to by a pearl. What might that mean for us? What is our equivalent of the Kingdom of Heaven and, what would we be willing to do to live there? This Sunday’s collection will be donated to the local “Fort Recovery” group.

February 18th, 10:45 a.m. – Rev. Kenton Stone (remote): “Here Is Your Hope”

As we’ve entered an important election year in 2024, we’re off to the races as to promises candidates are making to us as to our hopes for the future. Many in both parties are saying that this year’s election may be the most important ever in our nation’s history and that the future of our nation itself is at stake. That may well be true. However, from my perspective here in Mexico looking at my country from the outside, I wonder if we may be getting so concerned for the future that we may miss something. What about now? Is there any hope for now or do we have to wait for hope to come? Hope can be not just a promise, but a present in the present, too.

February 25th, 10:45 a.m. – JD Stillwater: “Eclipsed: In the Shadow of the Moon”

Since the dawn of humanity, eclipses have evoked strong feelings and symbolism, and an enduring mysticism expressed in legends, theologies, and world views. Eclipses remind us that we are minuscule observers of grand and timeless processes far beyond our control. Rich with metaphor and meaning, a total eclipse immerses us in awe. In this service, JD Stillwater shares the deepest and strongest spiritual experience of his life, and reminds us of the rare opportunity offered on April 8, 2024.
