Who we are

We are people of all agespeople of many backgrounds, and people of many beliefs. We are brave, curious and compassionate thinkers and doers. We create spirituality and community beyond boundaries, working for more justice and more love in our own lives and in the world. We are a member congregation of the Unitarian Universalist Association.

When we meet

UUFGC meets every Sunday at 10:45 AM from September through June. Please see our calendar or announcements for additional fellowship functions and events.

What we believe

Unitarian Universalists (UUs) embrace diversity of beliefs, backgrounds, and experiences, making everyone feel welcomed and valued. We support a free and responsible search for truth, allowing individuals to draw from various religious and philosophical traditions.

We have no single creed but share a set of principles centered on individual freedom of belief, a responsible search for truth, and a commitment to social justice and human dignity. These beliefs are shaped by a wide range of sources, including world religions, science, and personal experience, and they are united by shared values like love, justice, and respect for the interdependent web of existence.

For more information consult the Unitarian Universalist Association What We Believe, Shared Values, and Side with Love.

CORE PRINCIPLES

  1. The inherent worth and dignity of every person;
  2. Justice, equity and compassion in human relations;
  3. Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations;
  4. A free and responsible search for truth and meaning;
  5. The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large;
  6. The goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all;
  7. Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.

What we do

UU members support our fellowship and community. We are a vibrant community focused on living our values through fellowship, diverse worship, social justice action, lifelong learning, and mutual support. Read about the History of our Fellowship.

Fellowship

Services are held on Sundays at 10:45 a.m. with a coffee hour that follows each service. There are many other opportunities for fellowship including monthly dinners, drum circle meetings, weekly walks (taken on Thursdays), and other presentations and gatherings.

Worship

A UU worship service is diverse, welcoming, and non-creedal, focusing on spiritual growth, compassion, and justice. It features a welcoming, a chalice lighting (a symbol of UU faith), music (hymns, contemporary), sharing of Joys & Concerns, readings (from many sources), a sermon/reflection, meditation, and an offering, all centered on finding personal meaning rather than adhering to dogma. View some past worship services on our YouTube Channel.

Social Action and Justice

The Fellowship has a strong commitment to social justice and supports organizations working to better the community and society. A nonprofit agency is selected each month to receive cash donations. Individual members volunteer in many local service programs. The fellowship offers its community room for meetings of local groups.

Facility Rentals

Our facilities are available for rental at reasonable rates for weddings, funerals, and other non-profit events.
